How this works
Every website is quoted as a fixed price, agreed before we start — never a running hourly bill you have to keep an eye on. You'll know exactly what you're paying and exactly what you're getting, from the very first conversation.
Once your site is live, you can choose to have it looked after on an ongoing basis too — so you never have to think about it again.
One small ongoing cost sits outside this — your website's hosting platform (typically £15–£25/month, paid directly to the platform, in your name). Your domain name's first year is included in all of my website packages; from year two, renewal is a small yearly cost (typically £10–£15/year), paid directly to the registrar.
I'll guide you through choosing and setting up both, so you're never left to work it out alone.

Optional Package
Websites need small amounts of looking after — a security update here, a change of opening hours there. These Care Plans mean that's simply taken care of.
Both plans are entirely optional, intended for anyone who'd rather not think about their website at all.

Most businesses only need this. It's the quiet reassurance that someone's keeping an eye on things — I monitor your site in the background, and you've got up to two small changes covered every month, without needing to think about who to ask or how much it'll cost.

Common Questions
What's actually included when you build my website?
Building your website covers the whole one-off process of getting it live — planning it around your business, designing and writing it, developing it, and launching it publicly. It includes everything your site needs to work properly from day one: your pages, navigation menu, contact form, and the basic groundwork that helps your site get found when someone searches for what you do. It's different from the smaller ongoing costs — hosting, your domain's yearly renewal, and an optional Care Plan — which keep things running once your site is built.
How do payments work?
It depends whether it's your website package or an ongoing Care Plan. For a package: half the fee is payable as a deposit before I start, and the remaining half on completion, before your site goes live — invoiced within 7 days, and I prefer bank transfer (no fees, and the payment method most people already trust for regular bills), though card is available on request. For a Care Plan: your monthly fee is collected automatically by Direct Debit on the same date each month, rather than you needing to remember a transfer — handled securely through GoCardless, a UK-based Direct Debit provider.
What's this about hosting and domain costs?
Your website needs somewhere to "live" online (hosting) and a web address (a domain, e.g. www.yourbusiness.com) — these are small ongoing costs paid directly to the platform/registrar, in your name, so the account is always yours. I handle the setup and choose sensible options for you — you're never left to figure this out alone.
Is my domain name included?
Yes — every package includes your first year of a standard domain (.com or .co.uk) at no extra cost. After that first year, renewing your domain is billed directly to you, in your name, the same way hosting is. Unusual or premium domain names bought on the resale market aren't included on any package, but I'm happy to advise if you're considering one.
Do I own my website?
Yes. The account sits in your name, on your business — I simply look after the technical side for you. Nothing is ever 'locked' to me.
I'm not techy at all — is that a problem?
Not even slightly. That's exactly who I build websites for. I explain everything in plain English, and you'll always have a real person to call.
Can I change or cancel my Care Plan?
Yes, any time. Both plans operate on a rolling month contract, so no long lock-ins.
What if I need something outside my plan?
I'll always tell you upfront and agree a price before doing any extra work — never a surprise bill.
Data Protection Tools included in every package
Any website operating in the UK or European Union is required to follow laws regarding data protection. This just means that the information you collect from users or customers must be treated and protected in a certain way.
All of my websites include tools to ensure you remain compliant with both UK & EU data-handling laws (known as UK & EU GDPR). These include a cookie bar - which allows users to control how much information the website automatically stores about them - and relevant policies which outline how this data is handled.
These tools are included free-of-charge with every package, so that you don’t have to worry about it yourself.
Any other data things you should know about?
Depending on the nature of your business, you may have to register and pay a small fee to the ICO, or Information Commission’s Office.
This is an obligation for any business that handles information about other people as part of their operations.
The fee is normally £52.
As part of my data tools, I run a check on your business to confirm whether this needs to be paid. If that is the case, I'll guide you through the process of registering and paying the fee.
